I was literally dancing in the streets last night. DADT was the biggest joke while I served. Even though it was still in effect, I served with openly gay people, and no one gave a damn. It was only the bigwigs and politicians with heads up their asses who cared.

Thank goodness for progress, even if it is coming 18 years late.

I can understand why it was done, because from what I understand, the US is really Jesus-y about a lot of things and it's a good happy medium to be used as a stepping stone from an outright ban. But jeez, that's a long time for something like that to turn into across-the-board acceptance.

I think as a stepping stone it was a good place to start, but it really should have been changed long ago.

But you're right, Americans are very Jesus-y in a lot of ways, and sometimes have to have thing shoved at them to get them to accept that their way isn't always the right way.
