Not a whole lot going on lately, I'm happy to report. Well, aside from a bit of idiocy the other night, but that's all been taken care of.

Well, some things have been going on. Things I'm only allowed to blog about under F-lock. I'm watching Sherlock on the floor, playing with his cat, (probably) arguing with someone on the internet, and drawing all at the same time. The king of multi-tasking, right there, people.

There's been a bit of progress lately. Negotiations to get there were tough, but we worked it out. Basically, I cannot tell him to go to bed anymore. I don't know if this is indefinite or just until he decides he's done with the new experiment though. Calling it an experiment did get him more keen to try, though. What I'm talking about is the whole issue with red. We've still not quite got that far, but I am pleased to report that at 35 years old, the man has eaten his first apple. I'm not sure if he liked it, but there you go. It's a slow process, but my hope is that maybe with a better diet, his sleep patterns might mellow out naturally.

In other big news, and related to the first bit of this entry, he more or less broke into [livejournal.com profile] mscontrarymary's flat the other day to make himself a bacon sandwich. It sounds ridiculous, but he did. And ignoring the breaking in part (still don't know what goes through his head when he does that), it's actually a good thing. It takes him a long time to get to the point where he'll trust someone else's kitchen (he ate nothing but take-away from the same three restaurants for the first three months we were together). So progress all over, I'm quite pleased to report.

Not really related to any of this, a few months ago, [livejournal.com profile] ssarah_s suggested that I take Sherlock on holiday for a bit. With my schedule finally mellowing out a bit, I'm doing just that. We'll be spending the second half of November in France, where Sherlock has some family. I'm not actually sure where in France, and we probably won't be with them the whole time anyway. So, we'll be offline for that time. Or, I'll be offline, and he'll probably be glued to his phone the whole time. Like the brat he is.

While we're gone, does anyone want to take care of Maurice? I'm not sure I want him skulking around here for two weeks while we're gone.

Repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell in the US!

It was a good first step, but not one that should have lasted twenty years.

ETA: In other news, new headway on AIDS research. Made possible by some gamers, of all people.

It's still a bit messed up. You have to be celibate for a year before you can donate, but it's a hell of a lot better than where we've been.

Home after a hellish day at the surgery. What is it with people who know there's something wrong with them, and then wait until the something wrong grows to the size of a melon before seeking help? Jesus, people.

We've been really busy packing and slowly moving stuff over to the new place. If I managed to forget to give you our new address, let me know. I'm not mass-texting it because I don't know how.

Any friends of S' reading this: he may be a bit sporadic in his net usage. On top of all the moving, something seems to have happened with a friend of his or something. Whatever it is, it's put him in a bit of a mood.

OH. Pub night! I knew I'd forgot something. It was pretty ordinary, as pub nights go. Tony's still a prick and tried to take our table again, but we set him right with the help of a couple of new guys to the quiz. They seemed pretty all right. One of them was former military and served in Iraq. He and his boyfriend joined our team, which was a bit unfair to them, because it means they came pretty close to last on their first night. haha sorry, guys. We told you we suck.

We may be seeing more of them at the quiz. Hopefully we do. They seemed to be just as annoyed at Tony as the rest of us.

Been a few days since I posted. Sorry about that, there's a lot going on.

Signed the paperwork on the new place. Did I mention that? I might have done. It was a while ago, and I can't remember.

Went out to have drinks with Sarah for the first time in, oh god. I don't even know. Does forever count? I'm saying forever. It felt that way. Anyway, that was a lot of fun. Had some drinks, talked a bit. Possibly planned a trip to Paris after S and I are done moving. I also may have forgotten to bring that up with him. My mind is sort of fried right now.

NEWS ON THE MISSING DOG: It was in my basement. S put it there. In one of his lapses of judgement, he thought he was doing Bill a favour by bringing the dog home. Apparently it got out, and is the size of a horse, so S had no real way of putting it back in. It's probably what I would have done as well, but with the added step of letting Bill know what had happened. But the dog is safe and Bill and Millie are happy.

Pub quiz tonight. Just waiting on Bill to get over here, as usual. More on that later.

I also may have gone to see Harry Potter with Amanda and her son. Shut up, I like it.

No link this time, but I just saw this on the telly in the waiting room and thought it was worth sharing.

Some very awesome people in Afghanistan are teaching locals how to play rugby and trying to get a league going. Apparently they recently tried the same thing with cricket and it did well, so there are high hopes for this programme.

I wish this had been going on when I was over there. I'd have totally found a way to have got involved.

Still. How awesome is that? I wish them all the luck in the universe and hope to see an Afghan team in a few years.
