I'm going to get Irene Adler out of the way first. That's kind of my first really big complaint. I would have preferred her to be off the cast (like I thought she was up until recently) than brought on just to be killed. That was not cool. :C

But other than that, I loved it! It did a good job of following up on what the first movie promised (gay, shit blowing up, gay, sudden fight scenes, gay, did I mention gay?) and then turned it up to eleven. So many good fic possibilities. Well, sort of. Maybe for setting fic between the two movies. But I almost forgot how fantastic Holmes and Watson's dialogue was and the movie kindly reminded me that they are possibly the gayest thing this side of London. I'd quote some of my favorite parts, but I'm lazy and you lot should go watch the movie anyway.

And holy shit, how amazing is that Moran? And Moriarty? And Madame Sims? Actually just everyone new and old was fucking awesome. Special props go to Mrs. Watson for possibly being more badass than the men of the movie. I liked her in the first movie, but now she's just awesome. And her not knowing where to look during her scene with Mycroft, oh man. And he was awesome too. Yeah, I know, Stephen Fry in a waistcoat (well, technically, Stephen Fry naked, but you know what I mean). Also, he hires the best help. Carruther's eyebrow can compose a whole story of disbelief and Stanley is never aging.

I could've sworn I heard someone saying "Mine's bigger than yours~" in the theater at that one bit. Couldn't really contest that, it really was like a pissing contest with guns.

And how come our pub fights are never that fun, Bill? Well, I say "fun."

DANCE SCENE. That is all.

I do have one more nitpick though, and that's the CPR scene. As a medical professional, I do feel the need to point out that Watson really would have done so much more harm than good. Even when performed correctly, you can and probably will break and crack ribs, because the ribcage just isn't a very flexible part of the body. Watson would have obliterated Holmes' with what he was doing. broken ribs, punctured lungs, smashed sternum. So, remember kids, don't use the movies for examples of how to save your friends' lives.

Did they have CPR back in the day?

My favorite thing was definitely Stephen Fry. The man is awesome in anything (and nothing).

It was incredibly gay. It was so very, very gay. They were dancing together amidst some of the highest dignitaries in Europe — the only way they could have made it more homoerotic would have been by making Watson give Holmes mouth-to-mouth during the train 'I thought you were dead!' scene.

Also, Mary was easily my favourite in this one — I love the actress by herself, but her character was developped and beautiful and, just, everything that Adler wasn't, fuck them very much for fridging her. I loved that Mary was the one decoding Moriarty's notebook and snarking at Lestrade about it, god, she was brilliant.

Law's trembling, forcing-himself-to-be-calm acting during that part was brilliant. It set up the Reichenbach heartbreak very nicely.

He would. Bumping her off made no sense whatsoever. And they'll probably kill Mary next movie, if they go by the book. :/

Because if you paid attention to the movie beyond Law and Downey mentally undressing one another, you'd have noticed that the entire thing was complaint-worthy.

Our pub fights don't contain girls biting our legs, for one. Dunno if this is a good or bad thing, actually.

Speaking of pubs, you free this Friday or Saturday?

I remember somebody complaining, but that's bound to happen with that one in a crowded pub where everyone's drinking.
