How can a person go their entire life without having ever eaten an apple? It just seems like such a basic staple of everything, and he's never had one.

This came about yesterday when I'd impulse-bought a few at the supermarket (green, for the record).

I'm trying to talk him into trying one, but he's the most stubborn man on the planet and I don't want to push.

*[ooc: You know the drill. Commenting open, but F-locked for plot reasons.]

What I don't understand is that if a red food is poisonous, how other people can eat it and don't get sick or die.

What if you scraped the poison off?

Well don't. It's not necessary.

Perhaps if you have it with cheese or caramel? Apples are good, and green ones are particularly wonderful.

Why would you eat something that isn't ripe?

Green ones are ripe. They're a different type of apple, which is why they aren't red. Green apples are more tart and sweet, and make excellent pies. Granny Smith are really good, especially when they're bright green!

They still get red.

No, they're actually a different breed of apple. The green apples lack the gene anthocyanin, which is what makes red apples red.

Does he think you're the Evil Queen trying to poison him with an apple?

That movie wasn't based on a true story, man.
