Yes, things are much better. [livejournal.com profile] cons_detective is napping on the sofa with his feet in my lap and has calmed down a lot since this morning.

But man, I'm telling you. Waking up to a kettle being thrown across the kitchen is not good for PTSD. So I woke up in a bad mood because he was in a bad mood, and I may have come off a bit more harsh than I'd meant to in my post this morning. Add to that I didn't get my tea because the kettle had broken when it knocked the drying rack for the dishes off the counter, and no-one was happy.

Again, and I don't think I said this enough last time, thank you to those who were trying to be comforting to him yesterday. I think it does help him to know that not everyone out there dislikes him, even if he doesn't quite know what to do with that information.

I'm glad to hear things are calmed down. Sorry that you have to buy a new kettle.

Is the offer from yesterday still valid for...tomorrow, at the earliest?

Better make that day after tomorrow.

She gets to go home after her paperwork's done - I get to read it. Not this time, unfortunately.

I'm glad things have calmed down. I get like that myself sometimes - everyone hates me and is trying to fuck with me!!! - and I know it helps to have someone around who can smooth things out and make the world make sense again.

I haven't thrown a tea kettle, but I did once throw a candlestick at a boy who was being horrible. Fortunately my sports skills are very bad and I missed (and the candlestick was fine).

I have a particular mug I save for just those occasions. It's metal with a rubber-coated handle. Best 25 cents I ever spent.

So far I've only thrown it at a wall once, though. And I was mid-nervous breakdown at the time, so. Yeah.

I don't think it's patronizing if it applies to both of you. Maybe you could come up with a list of flat rules together. That way you'd both get a better idea of what's OK or not OK with the other.

A good rule would be that if you break something belonging to the other person, you have to replace it.

Maybe you can throw things, but only socks...

What? I mean, we don't know each other very well. I just like his art! And I can tell you like him, so there's a good reason for me to like him!

You should talk to him about it. It doesn't do him justice to be so influenced by such petty matters. Neither it does to you.
(This is exactly what I meant when I told him I worry about you. Just saying.)

It's not about mood. He shouldn't let these things stab so deep. (You'd better take the axe before he hurts someone, for example himself. Or breaks something that's not his, again.)

I'm so sorry your kettle is broken! The last time that happened to me, it was the first day of finals week. I'm sure that my wail of despair could be heard across campus. Hope you get a new one.

I'm glad the both of you are feeling better.

The last time I was taking finals, I got so agitated that I decided to get my ears pierced. As a distraction. And then I fainted in the jewelry shop. They're probably still talking about me. Yes, that was stupid.

@jumperfucker and consulting_detective, I'm sure it's going to be cool for y'all! If there's not an extra kettle, a saucepan will work fine until you make it to the store. Happy cohabitation beats happy heating of water, any day.

Best wishes to you both.

This is the point where my friend would start extolling the virtues of her stovetop kettle, where you just need a stove, but I live in a dorm room and who wants to go all the way to the kitchen when you want a cup of tea?

Mail-order one? That's what I did last time.
